What we offer

Our aim is to create a unique and inspiring experience where people of all ages and abilities can feel good about themselves. We want all our pupils to achieve success in an atmosphere designed for movement, health and fun.

We offer a range of movement based sports and like to think we have something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for;

  • Traditional gymnastics offering floor and large apparatus work on bars, beam, vault and tumble track for all ages. We also have, by invitation, competitive gymnasts who  compete local UK gymnastics events and displays.
  • For more adventurous types, Parkour offers a blend of traditional freerunning, gymnastics-fused movements, flips and tricks. It is free-flowing, creative and adventurous.
  • With our Sapphire Elite Cheerleaders, we offer both recreational and competitive teams. We also offer Tumble sessions, all on the floor or sprung tumble track, it’s all about dynamic movements and linking them all together.

HOLIDAY DAY CAMP FAQs

We have gymnastics camps at our HQ gym in Hoddesdon, and Parkour camps at our Goffs gym in Cheshunt.
We strike a balance between structured activities for great learning and progress, with a relaxed feel and space for input and choice from athletes. Our focus is on engagement: a welcome environment with activities that kids, athletes and coaches love. Helping them to discover what makes their eyes light up and inspires them about movement.

Activities we do, but are not limited to, are:
• Specific skills focus – handstands, cartwheels, backflips etc.
• Parkour – apparatus circuits, tricks, kicks, wall skills.
• Dance, cheerleading jumps, motions and group routines.
• Team and partner work and games.

Gymnastics covers all of the above on floor and the large apparatus of vault, bars, beam and trampette.

Parkour camps are that little bit more free flowing and adventurous, using our epic bouncy floor and vault apparatus and trampettes.

In the summer holidays we offer Pre-School Day Camps for younger children (age 3-5yrs).  These are offered as HALF DAY sessions ONLY, i.e. there will be no lunch cover for these sessions. Parents who feel their child at this age can handle both sessions in a day, will need to ensure that their child is collected at 12pm to have their lunch and a break.

You pick your sessions, whole day or half day (or days! Lots that attend camps come for several days or even whole weeks over the summer). Each session is booked and paid for individually – so it’s a great less committed way of trying out our club and activities than our term time offering. All of our camps are suitable for all abilities.

Please try to arrive on time, dressed and ready to train with minimal belongings.

Easily slipped on and off shoes and no socks are really helpful. Bring a full water bottle – and make sure your athlete can open and close it themselves.

Where possible, please get your athlete to use the toilet before you arrive. Toilets will be available of course when needed – please just ask one of the coaches.

The coach will explain everything your athlete needs to know – we ask our participants to give instructions their best attention and to ask questions if they are unsure of anything.

We have a good mix of ages and abilities generally from school age up to around age 16. Many of our existing members come to camps, but equally we have new athletes into these session as tasters.

(In the summer holidays, we offer a pre-school age half day camp for the 3-5yrs age group to get a taster of what a day camp is like.  These are always clearly labelled as Pre-School Camps).

Not really. We’re an active sport camp, where our expert coaches are teaching your child new skills and techniques. You can do crafts and TV at home. You are paying us for the experience of sport and our well kitted out gyms.

Yes. If you are staying all day, please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water (we can refill bottles). We have an hour for lunch and digestion, bring your own choice of entertainment during this break or join in ours (usually also some colouring in). Each half day session also has a 10min break half way through – so please do bring a little snack for this.

Yes the majority of the day is active – but reactive to the kids stamina levels. We’ll monitor activities accordingly so everyone is feeling capable all the way to the end of the day.

For our Affinity FULL Day Camp 09:30-15:30 please bring a packed lunch.  For morning or afternoon sessions, please bring plenty of water and a small snack.

Please can we ask you to NOT send your child in with any nuts or shellfish as we have children that attend these sessions that are very allergic.

We totally understand this and it’s an area we excel at (if we do say so ourselves). We work inclusively, but with a great deal of understanding all varying needs. We’ll usually encourage an anxious child to come and have a look at the gym, we’ll explain what the plan is for the day and make sure they are comfortable with where you are (if you are waiting or leaving), and where the toilets are, water breaks and how the session will run etc. We’ll buddy up new or anxious children with our staff or other kids as best suited. Now here’s the magic part – once we can get a child moving, their anxiety usually lessens. In most cases, by the end of warm up an unsure or anxious child is feeling much more settled and happy. We’ll be sure to commend them on their efforts and move positively into the rest of the session.

You are welcome to wear whatever clothing you wish for the session (as long as it’s appropriate for the activity!)  You’ll find that shorts/leggings and t-shirt is ideal. Leotards are great and you are welcome to wear ANY type.

However please ensure any clothing is suitable for gymnastics and related activities. Clothes should be soft (no zips or fasteners or denim), well fitting (not too loose) and appropriate (please avoid strappy and low cut tops. Crop tops are ok but if you choose to wear this we ask that you also bring along a t-shirt – if our coaches need to support you physically during a skill we’ll ask you to cover your back and stomach for safety.)

Easy solution – bring a friend or sibling! But if not, it’s a lot similar to above. We’re a friendly bunch and we’ll facilitate making friends by grouping or buddying up kids. Many kids find they know others from school/other clubs etc when they get here too.

You are in the right place to learn 🙂

“He enjoyed himself, he loves the coaches and the activities.  Overall was a great day for him.”

“J had a lot of fun and made new friends her coach said she improved on some skills.”

“My daughter absolutely loved the holiday camp! She has never had any experience with gymnastics before and loved it all, especially learning how to flip and roll.  She would love to attend regular gymnastic classes but unfortunately we haven’t found any that work for us yet but will keep checking the timetable online.”

“My son attended your Parkour camp today at Goffs Churchgate and loved it so much I said I would enquire to see if you had after school sessions available from September? Him and his friend who was also there today would love to sign up if so.”

SKILLS LABS

Skills Lab is where gymnasts drill deep, learn fast, and level up.

These holiday sessions focus on just one skill at a time – from cartwheels to back handsprings – giving gymnasts the chance to slow things down, dig in, and really get it.

Led by our most experienced coaches, each session is packed with drills, tips, and techniques to build confidence and spark progress – all in Affinity’s signature friendly, encouraging style.

It’s focused. It’s fun. It’s where skills stick.

After our FULLY BOOKED first sessions in May Half term we’re back with a HUGE selection for the Summer Holidays.  These will take place at HQ in Hoddesdon and will be:

SEN Free Play Session: All ages (Parent & Child) – A relaxed, inclusive session designed for children with additional needs to explore and enjoy the gym in a calm and supportive environment at their own pace without the need to stick to a set class structure. Build confidence through jumping off and swinging on the different equipment the gym offers.

121 sessions and private coaching

These classes are individually tailored to you – choose a day and time that best suits you. You may want to book private coaching to help boost performance in a certain area, or for a private group activity such as a Birthday party.

Depending on your aims we’ll cover a range of activities. Attendees will leave feeling welcome and confident, having had a great time and learnt some new skills.

Develop skills and boost your performance

Private coaching might be right for you if:

  • You are an existing member wanting to boost progress on a certain skill or two.
  • You are a member elsewhere but want to access 121 help with our coaches to develop your skills.
  • You train in a related sport or activity and want to learn a few things to support that – we’ve coached stunt athletes, fitness professionals, dancers, pole dancers and aerialists.

In these sessions you direct what it is you want to work on and our coaches will get to work on making it happen.

Currently, Club Founder Jen is offering our 121 classes in gymnastics. She has particular expertise in:

  • Technique coaching – in depth understanding to accelerate advanced skills or break down more basic ones for quick learning.
  • Psychological awareness – to address blocks or fears with skills and training.
  • Expertise in dance and choreography, for routine construction or in teaching gymnastics for inclusion in these activities.

Classes are held on occasional Sunday mornings or ad hoc other times by request. Email her directly on jennifer@affinityacademy.co.uk to arrange. Cost from £45 for a 30 minute session.
